Officers have laid charges in connection with a homicide on the Pine Creek First Nation.
RCMP has charged 24-year-old Ryan Chartrand with second degree murder.
Winnipegosis RCMP and emergency crews were called to a home in the community for an assault complaint at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.
They discovered an unresponsive 33-year-old man, who was sent to Swan River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Lance Richard. An autopsy has found the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
Officers say the victim and accused were both from the Pine Creek First Nation and knew each other.
Chartrand remains in custody and will appear in Dauphin Provincial Court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing.
