Winnipeg police have charged an 18-year-old teenager with murder after 26-year-old Steven Kyle Dodge was stabbed at an Arlington Street home early Sunday morning.

Police believe Dodge was trying to break up a domestic assault when he was stabbed in the upper body. He was taken to hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries.

"This incident just escalated gradually," says Constable Jason Michalyshen with the Winnipeg Police Service. The victim was trying to intervene in a confrontation between the accused and a girlfriend…they began throwing items in the backyard and…it escalated to the point where the accused produced a knife."

Eighteen-year-old Nathan Allan Bricklin has been arrested and is facing robbery with a weapon and second degree murder. He is also a suspect in a stabbing outside a Nairn Avenue store earlier that night.
