The new logos for the Winnipeg Jets were unveiled Friday afternoon.

Officials showed off the primary and secondary logos on the NHL team's website.

Officials said the design for the new logo was developed in partnership with Reebok and the NHL, and was inspired by the logo of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

"True North Sports & Entertainment felt it was important for the new Winnipeg Jets to develop a strong new identity," said Mark Chipman, chairman of True North Sports & Entertainment, in a press release.

"We felt it was important to authenticate the name Jets and we believe the new logo does that through its connection to our country's remarkable Air Force heritage, including the rich history and relationship that our city and province have enjoyed with the Canadian Forces," said Chipman.

Team uniforms will be revealed at a later day, said officials.

Winnipeggers who spoke with CTV News expressed mixed reactions to the new logos, with some conveying approval, while others voiced support for the old Jets logo.

In Winnipeg, Jets fans also lined up Friday to buy merchandise with the new logos on it at the team's new store at the corner of Portage Avenue and Hargrave Street.
