Following Friday's release of the Winnipeg Jets' new logo, merchandise has been flying off the shelves.

Fans lined up outside the MTS Centre Saturday to pick up the new line of Jets wear.

Scott Brown of True North Sports & Entertainment said they had sold out of roughly half the available Jets gear by noon Saturday. The Jets store will be open Sunday from noon until the merchandise is sold out. As of Saturday afternoon, the only thing lining the shelves were men's t-shirts.

Manitoba-born Winnipeg Jets team member Eric Fehr was on hand Saturday to sign Jets gear as shoppers browsed the new merchandise.

He said he was impressed by the new logo.

"It was kind of disbelief," he said of the unveiling. "Just realizing that this is what I'll be wearing for the next season. It's great."

For other fans, reactions to the new logo, meant to honour Winnipeg's connection to the Royal Canadian Air Force, are mixed.

"If I'm not proud, now I am," said RCAF veteran Jim Curlie. "I think it's great."

"I think it's kind of cheesy," said Lynne Dowd. "To me it looks like a beer can label."
