RCMP have charged a Berens River First Nation woman after a year-long investigation into a man's death.

On Wednesday, Lois Corrine Cook, 36, was charged with manslaughter in connection with 32-year-old Dave Hudson's July 2010 death, said RCMP. Cook was the common-law wife of Hudson at the time of his death.

But Cook is not the only person charged in connection to this incident. Berens River resident Alfred Trevor Bushie was charged for impaired driving causing death last year.

RCMP said they responded to a report of a stabbing in Berens River on July 31, 2010. Officers found the victim lying on the road and said he had been run over by a vehicle, after being stabbed. He was sent to the local nursing station where he was pronounced dead. Officials have not released the cause of death.
