A Winnipeg woman has been arrested and is facing weapons-related charges after a bear spray incident.

Police were called around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night to the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue.

A two-month-old child had been sprayed with bear spray by a two-year-old sibling, who was also suffering effects of the spray, said police.

Both children were taken to hospital by ambulance, where they were treated and released.

Officers said an investigation determined the bear spray had been left in a bedroom within reach of the children inside the residence.

A 36-year-old woman faces multiple charges including possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace and unauthorized possession of a weapon, said police.
