Family of the man killed in an Osborne Street brawl on Friday say he was a loving, cheerful man who will be missed for his ability to put a smile on anyone's face.
Baljinder Singh Sidhu, 27, was stabbed to death in a fight in Osborne Village early Friday morning.
"He was a charismatic person who always made his family his first priority and loved to spend his time entertaining them," said family in a statement sent to CTV News. "He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his big heart and beautiful soul."
According to the statement, Sidhu had been pursing a degree in criminology at the University of Manitoba and put that on hold after the death of his brother in 2006.
Police are investigating after the brawl was reported in the area of Stradbrook Avenue and Osborne Street around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 5.
It's believed two groups were inside a neighbourhood bar when an argument began. The dispute spilled onto Osborne Street, where Singh was stabbed. It's believed more than 50 people were involved.
Police said they are still looking for suspects in the case.
They don't know if anyone else was hurt in the fight Friday morning. By the time officers had arrived on scene, most people had left the area.
