Three men were sent to hospital in critical condition after a triple shooting in Transcona on Sunday night.

The incident took place just after 9 p.m. on Lou Peltier Crescent.

Officers say a gunman approached and fired at a crowd of about 10 people gathered around the garage. Neighbours say the homeowner is a man approximately in his twenties, who moved into the area in March.

The three men, age 26, 29 and 30, struck by gunfire were sent to hospital in critical condition, but later upgraded to stable condition.

"It does appear at this time that this would not have been a random incident so it would have been targeted -- either the address or the individuals within that were victims," said Const. Natalie Aitken with Winnipeg police.

Officers say, however, the shooting doesn't appear to be connected to the ongoing feud between biker gangs.

Police say, though, that two of the three men wounded in the shooting are known to have ties to drugs and weapons.

The organized crime unit is now investigating what role, if any, other gangs may have played in the shooting.

Some people who live in the area said they suspected something might be going on at the home previously because there was a lot of people coming and going.

Police continue to investigate and have not yet made any arrests for the shooting on Sunday.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-3411, or Crime Stoppers at 786-8477.
