Family members have identified the 40-year-old Garfield Street brawl victim as Marcel Murdock.

Police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old girl with manslaughter in connection with the death.

Officers say two families were socializing at a house when a fight broke out between a 17-year-old girl and her 18-year-old boyfriend early Saturday morning. Police say things escalated and spilled out onto Garfield Street after other family members got involved in the dispute.

Police say once outside, the group began assaulting each another with sticks, bats, a shovel and bear spray. Police say one individual suffered stab wounds.

Witnesses say people were even run over with vehicles.

"She just put it into drive and just ran into my uncle," says Matthew Hobson, who was at the party. "I saw my uncle fly into the air and land in the bushes."

Police say the 17-year-old girl got into a mini-van, a 21-year-old man got into a car and then they drove at one another. The man then got out of his car and the teen girl attempted to run him over.

Witnesses say the teen accidently hit her mother while driving at people. She eventually hit the 21-year-old man and the victim, Marcel Murdock, say witnesses.

In total six people were taken to hospital and three have been released. A 39-year-old woman is in stable condition and the 21-year-old man who was hit remains in critical condition. Murdock died from his injuries on Saturday.

Three people have been arrested and charged with a number of offences.

The 17-year-old girl has been charged with manslaughter, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

An 18-year-old man and a 39-year-old man have each been charged with a number of assault related offences.

All three people have been detained in custody.
