ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - If the country's doctors were to get their way, pets would be joining Canada's no-fly list.
A group representing more than 75,000 doctors across the country is recommending a ban on pets travelling inside the cabin on all Canadian passenger planes.
The Canadian Medical Association says pets present significant risk to travellers with serious allergies.
The group adopted the resolution at the CMA annual general meeting Tuesday in St. John's, N.L.
Some doctors who attended the meeting say the association should say out of the debate and let airlines decide.
But the group's outgoing president, Dr. Jeff Turnbull, says it's an issue of the health of Canadians and the association has a responsibility to speak up.
