Officers have arrested a man on internet luring charges after he was allegedly caught inappropriately chatting with a 13-year-old girl on the internet.

The chats allegedly happened between January and March 2011, on Facebook, police say.

The 13-year-old girl's parents found the chat and called police. Members of the Winnipeg police internet child exploitation unit got involved in the investigation.

Police executed a warrant Tuesday morning at a home in North Kildonan. Officers seized evidence and a man was taken in to custody.

The 45-year-old man is facing charges of internet luring to commit sexual assault and internet luring to commit sexual interference. He has been released on a promise to appear.

Police are encouraging parents to monitor their children's online activity. If you know a child who is at immediate risk call 911.
