HOBBEMA, Alta. - A woman has been shot and killed on an aboriginal reserve south of Edmonton at a home next door to where a five-year-old boy was fatally shot earlier this summer.

RCMP Sgt. Patrick Webb says the 23-year-old woman was shot early this morning on the Samson Cree First Nation.

She later died in hospital.

Webb says she was right outside a home that's next to where Ethan Yellowbird was killed on July 11 when a bullet passed through his bedroom.

The child was the grandson of reserve Chief Marvin Yellowbird.

Webb says it's too soon to speculate whether the shootings may have been linked, but he says investigators aren't ruling out the possibility.

The reserve has been battling a problem with gang-related violence.

Webb says police are interviewing witnesses in the latest shooting but there have been no arrests.
