A police cruiser car was hit Saturday afternoon after they attempted a traffic stop on Portage Avenue.

Officers saw a Chrysler Cirrus being driven in an erratic manner around 4:30 p.m. when they tried to pull it over. Police say the driver of the car made every effort to evade officers.

The car was stopped in the 300 block of Arlington Street when a police officer approached it on foot. At that point, the suspect put the car into reverse, nearly hitting the police officer and ramming into the police cruiser that was on scene.

The suspect continued to flee, driving at high speeds. As a result, another vehicle was struck on Portage Avenue and Burnell Street. Police say the suspect fled that scene as well.

The suspect parked on the 300 block of Burnell, police then took him into custody. 36-year-old Adam Redcliffe is facing a number of charges including flight from a police officer, drive without a license, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Redcliffe was also wanted on four outstanding warrants. He is in police custody.
