Winnipeg police have made an arrest after a 24-year-old woman was found dead behind a vacant building in the 700 block of Main Street on August 27, 2011.

Police say 36-year-old Max Maurice Richard has been charged with second degree murder for his alleged involvement in 24-year-old April Helen Hornbrook's death.

Officers say Hornbrook died from blunt force trauma to her upper body.

The suspect was arrested 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue.

Richard is being detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
