The Brandon University Faculty Association (BUFA) has voted 71 per cent in favour of strike action against its employer, the Brandon University Board of Governors.

The results of the vote were tallied over the last 10 days. Approximately 90 per cent of the membership returned ballots, said the union.

"We are grateful for this expression of support for our efforts from our members," said BUFA President and Chief Negotiator Joe Dolecki in a press release.

Talks between BUFA and the University are scheduled to resume late Wednesday.

The current collective agreement was signed after a 17-day strike in 2008. The contract expired on March 31, 2011.

BUFA represents about 240 full-time employees at Brandon University.
