Planning a wedding can be a lot of work, Arrangements for flowers and music can be time consuming. You also want to ensure your big day is the centre of attention. That is a problem for a Winnipeg couple getting married on the same day as the Winnipeg Jets home opener.

"We're already excited about getting married and the day is coming up so quickly, then adding the Jets game and all that excitement and anticipation, it's pretty awesome," said Rachel Borowsky a Winnipegger getting married Sunday.

Borowsky and Gabriel Wu set their wedding date long before the Jets came back. When the season ticket holders found out the opening game conflicted with their ceremony they knew they had to make changes.

Wu said, "I got a lot of text messages, it was first the tentative schedule: Habs Oct. 9. I was like, ‘uh'."

After encouragement from the groomsmen, the couple moved their vows from 4 p.m. to 2 p.m. That way they can catch the first period.

Borowsky's even going to wear her wedding dress to the game. "I thought about a clear, plastic bag. People may be giving me some funny looks, but it should be fine," she said.

The newlyweds are sure to turn heads, especially with Jets jerseys over their formal wear.

"We're going to be married and then go to the game to wind down, or wind up for the reception," said Wu.

They will still miss most of the game but Wu said he will be keeping track of the score. "I'll have my phone on my probably, there will be a TV on in the other room," he said.
