Winnipeg police are now saying that at least two homes were targeted in a triple shooting that remains unsolved. Two men died and a teenage girl was injured.

The shootings were reported on Oct. 23, 2010 on Dufferin Avenue, Boyd Avenue and Stella Walk within a 45-minute time span.

A gunman has still not been arrested.

"We're not (going to) be able to bring their loved ones back but what we can do is bring that closure to the family, bring some security back to those areas to know the person is in custody," said Sgt. Ross Read from The Winnipeg police's homicide unit.

The fear, until now, was that the shootings were random. Police now say they were not and that the homes on Boyd and Dufferin were targeted because of their connection to the drug trade.

More details have also been announced regarding the suspect in the shootings.

The suspect is described as an aboriginal male, in his late teens to mid twenties, standing about five feet eight inches to six feet (172 cm – 182 cm) tall, with a slim build. He was wearing dark clothing with red on it, along with a black hoodie over his head, possibly wearing a baseball hat underneath. The suspect was riding a black bike.

"There were patterns of red on various items of clothing according to the witnesses and the suspect was seen to be riding on a BMX or mountain-style bike," said Read.

Black and red are two colours worn by a Winnipeg street gang.

CTV News is told there is a possible gang connection to the first shooting in front of a home on Stella Walk. Neighbours said the family that used to live there has since moved out, but had gang connections at the time and that gang members were often seen standing in front of the home in the same spot where the 13-year-old victim was shot.

Ron Cook remembers the shooting vividly. He was walking home from the store when he noticed a suspicious man on a bicycle behind him. In the man's hand was something shiny. At first, he didn't think much of it.

"I started walking away going ‘nah, I don't think that's a gun.' I get back to the kitchen and (hear) boom, boom. I was like ‘holy smokes, that is a gun,'" said Cook.

While many people speculate the three shootings are gang related, police said they need more details to say definitely if they are linked to gangs or not.

Along with releasing more details for the suspect description, police also said they're looking to talk to two witnesses, a man and a woman, seen outside the home on Boyd at the time of the shooting. The woman is described as aboriginal, in her twenties, with dark hair past her shoulders, wearing a beige or gold winter jacket, with average height and build. The male witness is described as possibly Métis, about five feet eight inches (172 cm) tall, with a skinny build, wearing dark colored clothing, including a hoodie worn up.
