Monday kicks off Media Literacy Week with ‘Digital We' an event that schools across Winnipeg are involved in. Winnipeg students will take part, along with the province, and the world. ‘Digital We' plans to discuss how social media, such as Skype, Twitter and blogs, has opened a new realm of collaboration and can create positive changes in the world. The event will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Manitoba Museum Auditorium.

An item on the agenda includes a song debut. Students from Stevenson-Britannia School will reveal "It Starts With Me," a song exclusively written to emphasize the significance of "Digital Citizenship."

In addition, Students across Manitoba are encouraged to change social media stereotypes and represent digital media through videos, podcasts, photo essays and other projects.

Many schools in Winnipeg will participate via Skype. Students and teachers from Stevenson-Britannia School, St. James-Assiniboia School Division; Birds Hill School, River East-Transcona School Division; Sargent Park School, Winnipeg School Division; and Oak Lake Community School, Fort La Bosse School Division are all listed in attendance.
