A group of young people living in Winnipeg's North End are taking their fight against violence to the streets tonight.

A rally and march against the rising incidences of violence in their area is being held Friday evening in the troubled neighbourhood.

The event is being organized by local activist Michael Champagne.

The 24-year-old started up a not for profit organization called Aboriginal Youth Opportunities to mentor his peers. He's now asking more people to be part of the solution.

Those interested in participating are asked to meet by 6 p.m. at the corner of Selkirk Avenues and Powers Street.
