Winnipeg police said a suspect has been charged in connection with the killing of a 33-year-old man in South Osborne on the weekend.

Jordan Gregory Charney, 24, of Winnipeg faces a charge for second-degree murder for the death of Sheldon Kostenko, 33, said police.

Officers were called to the 200 block of Morley Avenue around 4 a.m. on Dec. 3.

The victim's body was found at the scene. Officers said Kostenko had suffered upper body injuries.

On Dec. 4, police located the suspect in the Osborne and Morley area.

Police said Charney is being held in custody.

On Monday, Kostenko's family issued a statement.
