Police are investigating multiple stabbings in Winnipeg that sent three people to hospital.

Two people are recovering in hospital after two separate incidents in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.

The first stabbing happened at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday night near Selkirk Avenue and Andrews Street. A 30-year-old man was confronted by two youths, who demanded his property. The 30-year-old man was stabbed and the youths fled the scene, said police.

The victim is listed in serious but stable condition, said police. Officers continue to look for suspects.

About an hour later, police were called about a fight in the Selkirk Avenue and McGregor Street area. A 48-year-old man was found with multiple injuries. He was rushed to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been stabilized.

Police said an investigation determined the victim had been at a party and was involved in an argument with two 19-year-old men. The men chased the victim and he was physically assaulted and stabbed, said police.

Both suspects were arrested at the scene.

Traffic was completely blocked off on Selkirk Avenue Wednesday morning while officers investigated the stabbings.

A 16-year-old boy is also recovering after being stabbed Tuesday evening in the downtown.

Police said it happened outside the Centennial Concert Hall.

The teen was stabbed in the upper body around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

He is listed in stable condition in hospital.

Police have two suspects, age 20 and 28, in custody. They face charges for assault with a weapon.
