Sections of the Chief Peguis Trail and the Rothesay overpass were temporarily closed after a dump truck hit the structure Tuesday afternoon in Winnipeg.

City officials don't know why the box of the truck was raised, but it hit the overpass.

Police said the incident was reported around 2 p.m.

Engineers were slated to take a closer look at the structure before the overpass re-opened.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, police said Chief Peguis Trail and the Rothesay overpass had been cleared for traffic to resume in the area.

The Chief Peguis Trail extension had only been open for about three weeks before Tuesday's collision.
