Police say a known gang member was arrested Saturday afternoon after officers were called to a family trouble call in East Kildonan.
Charles Matthew Wesley was found hiding in a basement with a prohibited firearm and ammunition in the area of Brewer Crescent and Molson Street.
Police say Wesley was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with his probation.
The 22-year-old has been charged with a number of firearm related offenses including: possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, careless use of a firearm- unsafe storage, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.
Wesley is being detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
