Winnipeg police are seeking suspects after a security guard was stabbed at Portage Place Shopping Centre Tuesday night.

Around 10:30 p.m. officers were called to the mall, where they found a 24-year-old man had been stabbed in the upper body.

The security guard had asked a man to leave the bus shack attached to the shopping centre. The suspect refused and attempted to assault the security guard. The security guard then tried to grab the suspect and restrain him, but the suspect produced a knife and stabbed him, said police.

The suspect fled the area. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Winnipeg police are looking for a white male, approximately 16 to 18 years old and about five feet five inches tall (165 cm).

Anyone with information is asked to contact Division 11 detectives at 986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at 786-8477.
