Winnipeg police have arrested multiple suspects after shots were fired in the 1500 block of Notre Avenue and a vehicle crashed near a restaurant in a violent melee. 

The incident was reported around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday. 

Two suspects, age 19 and 21,  confronted a 22-year-old man, who had arrived at a residence in the 1500 block of Notre Dame and was looking for a woman known to him. 

Suspects fired a shotgun, missing the 22-year-old man but hitting his Audi vehicle, said police. 

The 22-year-old man fled the scene in the Audi.  The two suspects also left the residence. 

The 22-year-old man later returned to the 1500 block of Notre Dame Avenue and met up with a woman, who was assaulted, said police. She was taken to hospital in stable condition. 

Officers later spotted the Audi travelling at a high-rate of speed. It crashed near a KFC restaurant at Notre Dame Avenue and Sherbrook Street. 

The 22-year-old driver faces a number of charges, including assault causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance. 

The 19-year-old suspect and 21-year-old suspect were also apprehended, with help from the canine unit and the police service's helicopter. They face multiple charges, including discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life.
