Winnipeg police have apprehended suspects following a large fight near Kelvin High School that sent five people to hospital.
Three suspects have been taken into custody.
One victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition, while four others were sent in stable, said police.
The incident was reported around 1 p.m Thursday.
By late Thursday afternoon, all victims were reported to be in stable condition.
"At this point we have five victims for sure – five victims that were transported to hospital. There's the possibility that there are further victims," said Const. Natalie Aitken from Winnipeg police on Thursday afternoon.
Students said the fight involved about eight people, including kids from other schools clashing with ones at Kelvin.
Students said weapons, including a machete and baseball bats, were used.
"These people just started yelling at each other, saying ‘I have a knife' and stuff and there were broken mirrors…it was crazy," said Sabina Sherman, a student.
Police said initial reports did indicate weapons were involved, but wouldn't say if any were recovered.
Students said the teens were also armed with a BB gun and batons.
Officers said the incident was not a random attack on students, and added that some of those involved in the brawl know each other.
Police weren't able to say Thursday if the suspects were students at the school.
Winnipeg School Division said four of those injured were from Kelvin.
The school was placed in what they call lockout, meaning doors are locked and teachers stand guard. Students are allowed in but not out.
Officials said the fight unfolded outside and not on school grounds.
