Winnipeg's warm weather broke another record for the second consecutive day Friday. Temperatures soared above the previously set record, reaching 20 C by 5 p.m. March 16. The previous record was set in 1981, with a high of 12.4 C.

Seasonal norms for this time of year are about 0 C.

Environment Canada said 13 Manitoba communities also set new records for high temperatures Friday.

Brandon, Dauphin and Portage la Prairie were among a number of Manitoba communities that set records Friday. Brandon reached 21.1 C, shattering it's previous record of 15 C in 1981.  Dauphin and Portage la Prairie also broke records set in 1981, by hitting 18.7 C and 19.3 C respectively.

Yesterday the city also saw record-breaking temperatures. By 4 p.m. March 15 the temperature was sitting at 14 C, nearly double the previous record set in 1986 of 7.3 C. Environment Canada said 11 communities in Manitoba had broken records by around 4 p.m. March 15.

Saturday, forecasters are predicting a high of 16 C, with a mix of sun and cloud.  Environment Canada said they expect more records to be broken through the weekend and beginning of next week before things cool down slightly mid-week.
