A coyote was sighted running in a parkade just off Portage Avenue and Main Street on Monday.

Police, animal services and conservation officials were all called in.

A conservation officer was able to poke the animal with a special tranquilizer stick, which helped them get the animal into a cage.

Provincial officials said the coyote sighting in the city is quite rare.

They believe it wandered up the Red River bank looking for food.

After the animal was captured, it was later released in Beaudry Park, west of Winnipeg, said provincial officials.
