Ontario Provincial Police were called Thursday for a report of a body sighted on the ice on a small lake north of Kenora.

Due to thin ice conditions, members of a search and rescue team were called in to help recover the body from Selkirk Lake, about 25 kilometres north of Kenora.

The OPP said the body is that of a 55-year-old local man.

Emergency crews were also out searching along the shoreline for a missing 43-year-old woman. The underwater search and recovery unit has been called to help.

The OPP advised the public to stay off the ice, pointing to extremely dangerous conditions due to recent warm weather and rainfall.
