Two people face charges for the killing of a man Thursday morning. 

Police were called to Sargent Avenue and Sherbrook Street shortly before 12:30 a.m where they found a man who had been seriously assaulted. Paramedics rushed the victim to hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.  

Officers confirmed the identity of the victim as Clarence Ross, 31. 

Police said an investigation showed the victim came into contact with two suspects in the area of Maryland Street and Sargent Avenue shortly after 12 a.m. Thursday. The victim was assaulted and the suspects fled, said police. 

Late Thursday afternoon, police said an investigation had led to a man and a woman being arrested. 

On Friday, officers confirmed charges had been laid. 

Devin Vernon Williams-Wapash, 19, of Winnipeg faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder and breach of probation, said police. Danyell Williams, 22, has also been charged with second-degree murder. 

The homicide unit continues to investigate.
