Officers have two suspects in custody after a cab driver was stabbed early Thursday morning.

Around 3 a.m. May 31, police were called to the area of William Avenue and Isabel Street for a report of a stabbing involving a cab driver.

A 53-year-old cab driver was parked in the area when a woman entered his cab.

A short time later, a man who knew the woman also entered the cab.

The man produced a knife and stabbed the driver, said police.

Both suspects fled on foot.

The cab driver was able drive away from the scene and flagged down members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. He was taken to hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Both suspects were arrested a short time later.

An 18-year-old man and a 24-year-old man face several charges, including assault with a weapon, said police. Two knives were also recovered.
